Anyone noticed the pictures that rotate on the front page of this web site? Mostly they are average pictures of what you'd expect to see on a smoking, dating site, but what's the story of that one with the moughtful of cigarettes?

That's very unusual for a web site like this. I was thinking it might be fun for each of us to submit our own backstory or theories on the source of that picture and how it ended up on this web site. I've pretended this is a picture on a news site made up a few fun headlines to go with the picture.

Regarding the after-sex thing, the after S-- cigarette is very close to my favorite cigarette, all day long. It's a relaxing one, not one I smoke in a frenzy, like the first cigarette of the morning, or as I'm walking out of my office after being cooped up for 3-4 hours. Though I must say, the most relaxing cigarette I have all day is my second, about 15 minutes after I wake up. The first one simply gets me out of bed. By the time I'm ready for my second, the coffee is ready, and I take 10 minutes to think about the upcoming day.

18 hour non-smoking flight - been there, done that! My last flight back to Seattle from Alaska wasn't quite 18 hours, but I was very happy to get out of the airport and light up. I don't often smoke two at once, but I sure did that day, and once I was done with them, I used the almost burnt out lit end to light a third. I've been putting off a vacation to Germany for some time for this no-smoking reason. I'm not up to such a long flight where I can't smoke. I've found that Aeroflot has a waiver to our government's stance that flights arriving or departing from the US must be all non-smoking. But I'd rather not fly to Moscow, just to fly part of the way back to the US, to get to Frankfurt.

I should have included the actual image in the original post like this:
This appears once in a while on the home page of this site and it's a curious picture. I thought it waould be fun to some up with stories to explain it.

A agree with you the my first cigarette of the day isn't my favorite. It's more to jump start my day and get going. I agree that the "after sex" cigarette is probably my favorite as well. My second favorites are probably after a great meal or when out drinking.

Long plane flights certainly do suck for smokers. Two at once after a very long flight - done that myself. Chained 4-5 cigarettes after a flight to Brazil, where thankfully they let you smoke inside as soon as you deplane. I grudgingly admit that they had to ban smoking on planes (though I think there could be better solutions for very long flights). But to then require you to walk 10-15 minutes through the terminal without a cigarette just adds insult to injury. Airports could easily add well ventaliated rooms to terminal gate areas that would allow the poor smoker to grab a quick smoke just prior to boarding or after getting off.

They do this at Atlanta- Heartsfield airport. I don't think I've even see a site quite like it. Must have been 75 people in a glass cube that was meant to hold 25. People were ducking in for a quick smoke and back out again and even with exhaust ducts the volume of smoke in the space was rediculious. It points to a real need for some form of accomidation.

Got a trip from PA to CA in January and not looking forward to it. Have to get some nicotine gum.
