I agree, the first of the day is best. The feeling of having your nicotine levels replenished is hard to beat. I was in the same situation as you Conor - as a teenager I had to get to school before I could have the first one of the day! Coming a closs second for me is the ciggie after a nice meal - though after July 1st in the UK that'll mean going outside to have it.

The first fag of the day - definitely. I like to take a very deep drag and slowly exhale through the nose. Very satisfying !!!! - I also like the one after not being able to smoke for an hour or so as I really enjoy the feeling of releif after a strong craving.

For me, the first cigarette of the day, which I light pretty much as soon as I first wake up, is more of a necessity than a pleasure. But 15 minutes later, the coffee is ready, I'll take 10 minutes, sit on the balcony if the weather is nice, or on the sofa if it's not, and enjoy my second, and favorite cigarette of the day, as well as my favorite cup of coffee out of the day (coffee is my #2 addiction, I drink lots of it), and have my mind on nothing else for those 10 minutes, before I start my day.

The last cigarette of the day would be my second favorite, when I'm sitting on the edge of my bed, thinking about the day, right before I turn the light off and go to sleep.

`I like the first of the day, but I think the best is the one right after work. The time between my last cig break and the end of work is 2 hours, so I cherish the dangle from the door all the way to the car, it feels great!

`I agree with most, my first of the day is usually the one I enjoy most, but my wife is a exsmoker so there is no smoking in the house for me....

I generally have to slip on some sweats and my slippers, fumble for a cup of coffee then let the dog out - if it's really cold out the first breath I take is a cold one, the second is a smoke filled one!

Yep....and the site seems to be loading fairly fast today, so I'll even make a comment. Usually it seems like it takes forever to load pages here, (and it's not my computer or connection) so I sort of skip the forum part.

As far as favorite cigarette of the day.....hmmmm......I think I'd vote for the 2nd one. The first is just a sort of automated reaction involving replenishing nicotine.....but with the second, which normally is lit from the first, there's time to sip some juice or something and really enjoy the cigarette. And you?

One great thing about joining Smoking Passions is that I've become a more committed smoker--proud even. Next to the pros, the cons seem silly, as you're not going to beat death no matter how much pleasure you deny yourself; anyway at fifty-six and after twenty-five years of moderate smoking and ten of
fairly heavy, I have yet to experience any ill effects.
So my favorite cigarette of the day-and I love all 20-40--is the first one out of my second pack. Not only do I love the nicotine buzz I have by then, but
that second pack symbolizes that I've freed myself of any reluctance to being a "real" smoker. I WISH I had by 16 (legal age in 1970) and became
more restrained...later...maybe...but I still FEEL young and vibrant. I'm told I
seem more upbeat and relaxed. Smoking is not only pleasant, it's also expressive, a strong element of personal style, and very beautiful. Why WOULDN'T so many intelligent people love it? And I don't see an upside to denying myself something I love because MAYBE I'll live longer!
