Hope I have just come back from visiting my daughter in Spain and what a joy it was to be able to sit in a cafe and enjoy a cigarette without huddling in doorways like a bunch of lepers. It really, really makes me angry this smoking ban we have here - it should be down to the individual publican in my opinion. I remember the first time I came across a non-smoking pub 20-odd years ago in Cambridge. The landlord had just sold me a box of matches but when I went to light up, told me it was a non-smoking pub because his wife was asthmatic - what the hell were they doing buying a pub then? I can't bear vegetarian food, so guess what, I don't go to vegetarian restaurants. The two pubs in my very rural village are now virtually empty and smell of old men and urine!
